God delights in opposites

"God delights in bringing together opposites, bringing them together, not just to get by but bringing them to a union of a transcendent kind, by which He can be glorified. Merely to be compatible is to miss it. There's struggle, collision, contradiction, opposition,..God Himself has so formed these tensions that unless He is brought in and invoked with His great redemptive power we will not be able to move through these staggering oppositions... God has set the stage stacking all the cards against Him(self) And when He shall succeed it will be to the everlasting praise of His glory. Unless that is your motive (His glory), you will fail. When that is your motive you are able to bear the suffering that proceeds the glory." Art Katz from this sermon http://media.sermonindex.net/10/SID10883.mp3
it is very hard to pull a few sentences out of one of his sermons, but WOW was i blessed on my drive home this morning listening to this masterpiece.

Compromise

Reading through Exodus this morning and noted that Pharaoh was willing to compromise. "You can go, but just the men, and only go a little way." No, Moses knew that was not a good compromise. Then it struck me com-promise. I was hoping that the breakdown of the word would give some insight com=with and promise=a declaration that something will or will not be done. So along side of the promise comes something to be put with it, "you can go, but." How often do we get this from the enemy of our souls. You can follow God, but... Total obedience. "No Compromise" was the title of an old Kieth Green album and the album cover artwork depicts Mordecai not bowing to Haman. There are times to bow and times to not bow. God help us to be wise as serpents, but gentle as doves.

Impotent, Docile, Non-parent

honest open view into my mind heart and life as God works His work in my life...
remember that is THE purpose for this blog, sure I 'save' my Bible study on here and do other things with it, but this is THE purpose.
so.
Impotent - Unable to take effective action, helpless, powerless
Docile - Easily handled or managed
Non-parent - Any person who does not meet the definition of parent.
This was how I was described today by a person close to our situation as we struggle with our 14 year old and his acts of disobedience.
Its probably true.
Pointing our faults is probably the easiest job in the world.
So.. God change me, make me what I need to be in this family, and ultimately God, do the work that you need to do.

Was the prodigal son's father also seen as Impotent, Docile and a Non-parent...probably... and who does the prodigal sons father represent????????????
