Ezekiel 38 Intercessory Prayer

“The LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.” “It shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage in which thou wast made to serve.” “Ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.” In the many statements similar to these, spread out through the whole Bible, we find the covenant reality expressed and its future fulfillment guaranteed. To run through the list of the “I will” and “I shall” in Ezekiel 38 will fill our prayer gatherings for the rest of our days with covenant related intercession. The prayer answers promised in the long list ends with a statement immersed in heavenly beauty: “I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them.” Ezekiel would have called this kind of ministry in prayer according to the covenant “Dry Bone Ministry” – a ministry to be engaged in during those future days when the forces of evil are trying to eradicate any trace of the eternal covenant.
