Two Truths

It is easier to be known by your party affiliation, or what you believe, or what you proclaim as right and true.  It is harder to be known by your love.  Especially when that love is defined as the love that the Messiah of Israel has for us.  Self-sacrificing for the good of the other.

And yet HE says, His disciples will be known by His love.  Costly love.

We grumble and complain about our circumstances because we have no idea the depth of pride that is in us that God HAS TO ROOT OUT before we can be useful in the kingdom.

Humility, The Gift That Protects Us From The Fall

God is at war with pride.
Humility is the weapon He makes available to us.

It follows necessarily that true humility is not something we can obtain.

We must go to Him, His life is humility.

His life as always is what we need.

Pride is available 24 hours a day via the self.

Humility is only in Him.

Oh to be living in such a way that we are moment by moment aware of the conviction of the Holy Spirit.  Oh to be aware of our faults so that we can confess them and be healed.

May God continue to hold up, His Love, as the standard and may we redeem the time.

Thoughts on Humility Gifts and Power

Humility and Mercy are the Breakthrough

In the past I have prayed for power, signs and wonders and I still believe supernatural manifestations of the Kingdom of God will follow the message of the Gospel.  What is different is I am beginning to see that "stardom" and a certain amount of "fame" would come with the displaying of signs and if humility and mercy are NOT deeply in wrought in the character of a person -- that prominence will destroy them.  We need a body of believers who are broken and can speak directly into each other's lives when pride is just at the seedling stage so it can be cut off and dealt with before it becomes something that destroys many.
We need to be a body of believers, so that no one person is in the spotlight for a prolonged period of time - because the spotlight is a dangerous place for the human heart.  (I have heard the prophecy that the next move of God will be a nameless faceless generation and I praise God for the wisdom in that.)
Paul was given a thorn in the flesh by the One who knows the human heart better than anyone.  Paul didn't think he needed it but God in His mercy knew Paul better than Paul did and so the Father Son and Holy Spirit answered "no"  to a prayer from the most famous Christian of all time.
So wisdom is crying out, pray for humility and mercy so that you can steward the amazing grace of God well, because His love is about to break out in healing and deliverance in powerful ways.

Election picks a fight with pride

Election, God's choice, of Joseph, of Jacob, of Abraham, of Isaac, of the Jewish people is meant to pick a fight with pride.  His choosing uncovers our deep, unspoken, but universal, feeling of entitlement.  Only when we are connected intimately with the truth that we NEED the mercy of God are we free of entitlement and its out-working pride.
