One Battle

A Keith Green song has the great lyric, "One battle in the holy war God's promised me to win." (Until That Final Day)

I was lamenting to God that no matter how good 11 hours and 58 minutes of my 12 hour shift go, I always seem to have 2 minutes, where I "lose it".  Well 2 days ago I had a full 12 hours of being a good nurse and yesterday I only had about a 30 second near "lose it" moment, so I am grateful to God.  He always hears the sincere cry to be more like His Son.

My friend Jon Jonas posted this quote today and I think it is the most excellent prayer I have heard in a long time.

Cause me to trust in YOUR companionship!

His promise to always be with us is the most precious promise in the book in my opinion. This prayer is a cry to be made to trust in that presence.

Let it be so Lord.

Samson, Naboth, and Loving Not Their Lives Unto the Death

There is a place in the plan of the Sovereign God of Israel where the most important thing is the glory of God and the temporary happenings in this evil age are given second place.

Samson, a man who is in the "Hall of Faith" in Hebrews 11 basically committed suicide at the end of his life and was not spared.

Naboth was stoned by his neighbors and was not spared.

Many martyrs will "love not their lives to the death" at the close of this evil age.
