Leonard Cohen was incredibly talented.
Sadly, somewhere a long the line, he had a choice and that choice was to humbly accept the Messiah of Israel or to turn inward.
Based on this lyric he turned inward, "As he died to make men holy
Let us die to make things cheap"
But somehow the truth is the gifts and calling of God are not withdrawn.
We have indeed made a cheap gospel, cheap grace, I think Bonhoeffer called it.
It sells. It fills seats. It self perpetuates. It does not invite persecution. It is ear-tickling.
It is time to call a lie, a lie, the time is too short to play games.
