This quote from a recent email from Reggie Kelly, is part of a repeated theme flowing into my life lately, "the issue of the veil and seeing beyond the veil of the law / flesh to the glorious joy of the good news of God's covenant faithfulness."
Doing and performing, seeing the goal and trying to attain to it, being told that you are falling short and that God is going to cut you off, these are all examples of religion and the evil hold it has. Sadly, the worst cases of it often appear under the name "Christian".
This appeal to the flesh to try harder and be better than those other Christians is RELIGION in capital letters.
The joy filled Good News is this, The righteousness of the Yeshua is yours through trusting and believing in His finished work.
That righteousness is the foundation, basis, and the very life of all that you will "do" as a follower of Yeshua from this moment forward. Rest and trust in the finished work and in His life flowing through you.
At Rest, In Him
That is the simple four word summary of what it means to follow Yeshua!
